Holy Protection Cathedral

Picture

Pokrov Cathedral

1-7 Albion Street,
Brunswick East,
VIC  Australia

Welcome

The Holy Protection Cathedral (Melbourne) was founded in July 1949, with the majority of original parishioners migrating from Europe as displaced persons in the aftermath of WWII.

Opening in September 2006 in its current premises in Brunswick East, our church was built brick by brick by volunteers and skilled builders in the community, with funds raised by our parishioners over decades.

Today the Holy Protection Cathedral, (abbreviated to Pokrov in Russian), is a vibrant church serving a diverse community. Our services are conducted in both Church Slavonic and English. Read more...

Pokrov Chronicle - our parish history.
After three and a half years of solid work by chronicler and parishioner, Alexander Rudakov, this comprehensive history of our parish has been launched to celebrate our 75th anniversary.  The book recounts the life of our parish beginning in 1949 to the present day with interviews, anecdotes and photographs.   You can purchase a copy from the candle kiosk or bookstore (open on Sundays after the liturgy on the first floor of the hall) or email: [email protected]
