O faithless generation...

“Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, ‘I believe; help my unbelief!’” (Mark 9:24).

In the period of the after-feast of Transfiguration, the Gospel reading suggests how we are all in need of our own transfiguration. While three apostles are witness to the miraculous Transfiguration on Mount Tabor, below, the remaining nine struggle with freeing a young boy from demonic possession. The disciples have lost their faith and battle with not only spiritual adversaries, but human too.
When the father of the young boy weeps for Christ to help him in his unbelief, though he believes; he could be speaking for all of us. We cannot generate faith from within without God – we have to want to believe.
