For Orthodox Christians, saints are not dead but dwell in eternal life with Christ. Our Church interior is frescoed with icons in order to make the unseen reality manifest. Our worship ascends us into the Heavenly Kingdom where we stand among the witnesses to Christ.
"The beauty of a church reveals in a way, the beauty of the celestial Jerusalem which God prepares for those who love him."
Leonid Ouspensky, Theology of the Icon.
At the Protection of the Most Holy Mother of God Cathedral, you will notice that most of the walls are covered in frescoes. They display saints, prophets or show important events and miracles the occurred in the life of Christ.

Frescoes showing gospel stories
The gallery below shows our most recent frescoes, located on the northern wall. We are currently raising funds to continue the beautification of our Church – the next section of iconography will be on the southern wall. To donate, please enquire at the candle kiosk – cash, cheque and bank transfers are accepted.
